That Winter, The Wind Blows, is a korean drama starring Zo In-sung (Jo In-sung) and Song Hye Kyo, which are by the way my favorite Korean actor!
It's a romantic melodrama about a man Oh Song (Zo In-sung) and a blind woman Oh Young (Song Hye Kyo) who don’t believe in love. Oh
Soo is an orphan who is left heartbroken later in life after his first
love passes away and comes to lead a goal-less life as a high stakes
gambler. Oh Young is a lonely heiress who feels she must look after
others and herself after her parents get divorced and she finds herself
becoming visually impaired. The two will come to find the true meaning
of love after meeting each other.
So finally, a couple of days ago I decided to watch this. I finished watching it for 2 days, and I am waiting in vain for the last episode to come out.
I couldn't say that it's the best drama that I ever watched since I feel like there's still something missing in this drama and I don't know what is that. Suddenly, my standard of what's best is based on Innocent Man. Like if you can't beat Innocent Man, then it's not the best.
But comparing Innocent Man and That Winter, The Wind Blows, is quite hard - you can't even compare the two. It's very different. Innocent Man, is a heavy drama with a lot of complications that involve other people cause by an antagonist, while in That Winter, The Wind Blows, there's really no antagonist because they all care about Oh Young.
The complication in That Winter, The Wind Blows is all about how each characters perceived love. It was all about love. This drama is a heavy drama not in the sense that it has a lot of tragedy and misfortune. In fact, the misfortune was already there at the very first, but it become so beautiful because it was also the reason why the love blooms. It was like finding love at your very last breath.
This drama is amazing! I don't know how will it ends, but I feel like its not gonna be a happy ending but I am still hoping that by some miracle it will have a happy ending. I know it's been predictable that it's always a happy ending, but the thing is... Korean's are not very fond of the predictability of happy ending (at least that's what I observed). That's what I like about their drama's, it's full of surprises! But in this drama I really want it to have a happy ending - the characters deserve that! They deserve to have a life with love - to live with love! They suffered enough from the past, and this was the first time they experienced that kind of happiness and taking that opportunity to live happily with full of love is just cruel. I just hope that no one out there is experiencing the same thing, it hurts too much just to think about that.
But come to think of it, even if it will have a sad ending, it's not gonna be bad at all because at least before one of them die, they at least experience the love that they thought they wouldn't be able to feel or have.
I am recommending this drama to everyone! I don't care what race you belong too, but you better watch this drama! It's not a typical drama with a lot of tragedy, who have an antagonist. It was just all about love. It features different kinds of love. It shows the difference of every individual when it comes to love - there different perception about love. This drama is so beautiful! And great actors too!
P.S
(Spoiler alert)
If it's gonna be an sad ending, then I guessed I am good at predicting movies and drama's. I had a feeling that Oh Young will die or at both of them. I guessed that Oh Young will die because Oh Song has been narrating a lot.
